Historically underfunded and overlooked, research into Hyperemesis Gravidarum is finally gaining momentum — with growing interest in understanding and addressing this severe condition.

Current research opportunities & findings

In April 2025, PSS conduted a survey to determine the availability of the only drug licensed for use for Nausea & Vomiting in Pregnancy called Xonvea. Despite being mentioned as a treatment option in RCOG and NICE Guidelines, it remains a postcode lottery. 

Find out more about a new clinical trial for the treatment of Hyperemesis Gravidarum. PSS are acting as the lead PPIE Partner for this study and will be supporting all patient participants with peer support, helpline support and counselling throughout their journey.
