We are thrilled to announce that Pregnancy Sickness Support has joined the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) Public Advisory Group for the Practice Learning Review. This important group aims to enhance the education and practical training of nursing and midwifery students across the UK, ensuring they receive comprehensive support and opportunities for professional growth.
What Does This Mean?
Our participation in this group allows us to represent the voices of those who experience hyperemesis gravidarum and other pregnancy-related illnesses. We understand the unique challenges our community faces and can advocate for the specific needs of our members in the training and development of future nursing and midwifery professionals.
Why Is This Important?
By being part of this advisory group, we can help shape the practice learning experiences of nursing and midwifery students. This means ensuring that their education includes a deep understanding of pregnancy-related conditions like hyperemesis gravidarum and how to provide compassionate and effective care.
We Need Your Input!
To make the most of our role, we need your help. The NMC has posed two crucial questions to gather insights from our community:
- What would give you the most confidence in receiving care from students and fully qualified nursing and midwifery professionals?
- What sort of things would you expect practice learning to cover? Feel free to think freely and ‘outside of the box’.
Your feedback is invaluable and will directly influence how future nurses and midwives are trained.
Share your insights and experiences, with us at office@pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk and let’s ensure that every nurse and midwife is equipped to provide the best care possible for those with hyperemesis gravidarum and other pregnancy-related conditions.
Deadline to submit is 31st August 2024.
