Researcher Hub: Including the voices of lived experience

This hub provides clear guidance for researchers looking to meaningfully involve people with lived experience of Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) in their work, supporting high-quality, inclusive PPIE in line with best practice.

Partnering with PSS can enhance the relevance, inclusivity, and impact of your HG research. These are just examples of the support we offer — we encourage researchers to contact us to discuss the specific needs of their project.

Study design and documentation

We can support you with shaping research questions and priorities, study design and ethics applications, and the development of participant-facing materials, lay summaries, and social media content.

Recruitment and Contributor Engagement

We can support recruitment and coordination through our dedicated PPIE group at PSS, as well as reach beyond it when needed, and facilitate focus groups, surveys, or advisory panels with individuals who have lived experience.

Knowledge Translation and Dissemination

We can support involvement in co-production, knowledge translation, and dissemination, and may promote ethically approved studies where appropriate and aligned with our values.

Submit your research request to us in two simple steps.

Terms & Conditions

Before collaborating with Pregnancy Sickness Support on research, please ensure you have read and agreed to our Terms and Conditions for Researchers engaging with us for Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE). These outline our services, expectations, and associated costs.

Research request form

To begin the process, please complete our short researcher form with details of your study and the type of support you’re seeking. We recommend being as thorough as possible to help us understand your needs — a member of the PPIE team will be in touch within five working days.

Would you like to register as a HG friendly professional?

We invite Healthcare Professionals, Counsellors, Therapists and other professionals who support women and pregnant people with Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) and Nausea & Vomiting in Pregnancy (NVP) to apply to be on our HG Friendly List, so we can signpost sufferers to services and professional help, where the charity is unable to provide support.

“Their insight lived experience network, and commitment to inclusive, ethical research helped shape our study in ways we couldn’t have achieved alone. It genuinely improved the quality and relevance of our work.”
